    Agency Medical Consultant Certification Criteria

    Certification criteria for agency medical consultant staff was established and approved by the NADE Executive Board of Directors at the 2000 national conference held in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  The certification of medical consultants are limited to those employed by the Social Security Disability Agencies only.  Consultants who perform examinations for the Social Security Disability Program are not included.  All applications will be reviewed by the Professional Development Committee with the following established criteria:

    1) A minimum period of three years successful practice as a Disability Medical Consultant is necessary prior to becoming eligible for certification.  Successful Practice is herein defined as the performance of at least satisfactory work and The Medical Consultant must not be in a probationary or conditional status with the employing agency.

    2) The Disability Medical Consultant should be currently licensed in the state in which they are in practice.

    3) A Disability Medical Consultant must be a full member in good standing of NADE, which requires current membership in the organization.

    4) The Disability Medical Consultant will subscribe to the NADE Code of Ethics.

    Upon receipt of sufficient documentation that the individual Medical Consultant meets all of the above stipulated requirements, a certificate will be printed and issued.  The review of submitted credentials and issuance of the certificates will require several weeks time.
