| I would like to take this opportunity to announce my candidacy for Chairperson of NADE’s Council of Chapter Presidents (CCP) for 1998-1999. My commitment to NADE and its mission and my local chapter encouraged me to make this decision. I would be proud to serve NADE members in a position that provides opportunities to network with other chapters and to disseminate information gathered for all chapters to use for membership recruitment and retention, fund-raising, the donation of time and funds to charitable organizations, continuing education programs, and morale boosting activities. I believe that each chapter should share their ideas and goals with their fellow NADE members in order to effectively represent the disability professionals in their agencies and the public that we all serve. I began my career in the Texas DDS in May of 1993 as a support staff employee and was later promoted to Disability Examiner. Shortly after being hired, I became a member of NADE and in August of 1993 was asked to chair the TADE Special Projects committee. Since that time it seems I have been “on a ride” that has not stopped and has shown no signs of slowing down. I have served three years as TADE Secretary and have served on numerous local committees. I have held the position of Secretary for the Southwest Association of Disability Examiners (SWADE) for three years and have been a member of several regional committees. I was privileged to be able to serve on the NADE Awards committee for three years as well. Currently, I hold the office of President-Elect of both TADE and SWADE. I have attended the majority of regional and national conferences since I became a member. I have consistently attended both old and new NADE Board meetings in order to keep abreast of national issues. As NADE aptly represents all disability professionals, it provides a powerful voice when presenting testimony to Congress or giving feedback to SSA on disability policies and procedures. I believe that this is possible because of the dedication and commitment of our membership. It is with the same dedication and commitment that I promise to serve NADE as CCP Chair. In order to accomplish this goal, I need and would appreciate your support! | I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE this opportunity to submit my name in nomination for the Office of Council of Chapter Presidents of NADE for 1998-1999. I have worked for the DDS in Albany, New York since 1993 and served as the first president of the newly reactivated chapter ESADE. I was the Conference chairperson for the Northeast Mid-Atlantic Biregional Training Conference held at Albany, New York, June 9-12, 1998. I was appointed to be the National Disability Professional Week Chairperson 1997-1998. I was the ESADE membership coordinator from 1996-1998. I was the ESADE membership Coordinator from 1996-1998 and am presently the ESADE certification chairperson. I was elected Northeast Regional Vice-President 1998-1999. I have attended several regional and national conferences and have been privileged to meet people from other states. The primary duty of CCP Chair is to facilitate communication among chapters. I look forward to working with all NADE members to make our organization even better. NADE is actively involved in many issues that affect the program and our profession. NADE is very well respected by Congress and other agencies. Our training conferences are being attended by members of SSA and many other agency members. The energetic leadership of the organization is a long standing source of pride. NADE has come a long way. I am privileged to be a member of NADE, and my involvement in all levels speaks to my commitment. If elected I will strive to be a strong active voice in the coming years. I seek your support for the office of Council of Chapter President of NADE. | It is with pleasure that I announce my candidacy for the office of NADE Secretary. I have enjoyed performing the duties of this position for the past year, and ask for your support in the election to be held at the National Training Conference in Rapid City, South Dakota. Since becoming a member of NADE in 1984, 1 have served in many capacities at the local, regional and national levels. I have worked at the Nebraska DDS since July, 1983 as Disability Examiner, and more recently, as a Disability Hearing Officer. I have been the Chapter President of the Nebraska Unit of Disability Examiners for the last eight terms, and have planned training seminars for co-workers. I have also chaired regional committees, including Awards and Nominations. On two occasions in the past seven years, I have had the honor of serving as the Great Plains Regional President. I was awarded the Charles 0. Blalock award in 1991, 1993, 1994, and 1997 by my region. Since 1989, 1 have been a regional representative to the NADE Advocate. As Awards Committee Chair in 1995-1996, 1 had the pleasure of presenting the Awards Program at the national training conference in Chicago, Illinois. It is an honor to be a charter member of the Council of Chapter Presidents. The training I have received through the numerous NADE conferences I have attended has been invaluable. Throughout my membership in NADE, I have made it a point to familiarize myself with the issues that affect all of us in the disability determinations profession. There is an ever changing arena in which carry out our job duties. NADE is an organization which is a driving force in insuring that we have the necessary training and resources to do so. NADE keeps us informed and allows our voice to be heard. I believe my continuous involvement in our organization speaks to my level of commitment to NADE. I wish to be of further service to the organization, and for the above reasons, I respectfully request your vote of support for my candidacy for NADE Secretary. |
