NADE’s Legislative Network
by Marty Marshall, Legislative Committee Chair
ONE OF NADE’S STRENGTHS IS our national, grass roots organizational
structure. This is especially important when dealing with
legislative issues. The Legislative Committee members serve as a conduit
to the state Chapters, providing information and obtaining
input on legislative initiatives. While at the national level NADE can,
and does, deal with issues and make contacts with Legislative
and Congressional staff our effectiveness is greatly increased when state
chapters and individual members also contact their own U.S.
Senators and Representatives to address these issues. The time frames for
preparing testimony or position papers are ofter very
short. By having our lines of communication in place we are in a better
position to provide responses which represent the views of our
membership.
