Jeff Price for CCP Chair
I AM ANNOUNCING MY CANDIDACY for Chairperson to the Council of Chapter Presidents and I respectfully ask the support of each member of the Council. I would encourage each NADE member to evaluate each candidate who asks for your support in the coming elections. NADE has earned an excellent reputation for effective leadership and service to its members and we must continue to elect effective leaders who will be a strong voice for us in the future. I respectfully request that each of you consider my qualifications for holding office. I believe that my record of past service to NADE is reflective of the leadership and commitment that I bring to the position. I pledge that I will work very hard to be an effective voice for you as a member of NADE’s Board of Directors. I began my career as a disability examiner with the North Carolina DDS in 1979 and I have been an active member of NADE since 1984. I am proud to be a NADE member and very proud to work for one of the best DDSs in the country. The North Carolina DDS has long been recognized as one of the most innovative and productive DDSs in the nation. I hope to bring this same degree of productivity and innovation to our national association as your Chairperson to the Council of Chapter Presidents. I have been a member of the Council of Chapter Presidents since its inception in 1989 and was elected to serve as its first Chairperson in 1990. This was an honor for me to be elected by my fellow Chapter Presidents to serve as their voice on NADE’s Board of Directors. During my tenure as the first Chairperson of the CCP, I helped to develop many of the purposes for which the CCP has come to exist, namely, a forum for open discussion among NADE chapter leaders of the key issues affecting our national association and the sharing of ideas that will build stronger local chapters. I would like to see the CCP’s role expanded in the future with the ultimate goal being stronger, more effective local chapters which would, in turn, create a stronger, more effective national association. I have been fortunate to have been elected to serve three terms as President of the Tar Heel Association of Disability Examiners. In each of my terms, I am pleased that local membership increased and as did Chapter activity in community projects, social events, fundraising, arranging special training and personal growth seminars and programs for the DDS staff, and many other areas. This increase in membership and activity was certainly not due to the efforts of any single individual but to a joint effort by many who shared a common purpose, and that was to make our NADE Chapter as effective and as fun as it could be for its members. This is the type of leadership style that I would bring to the CCP. There is no “I” in “TEAM” and I certainly don’t have all the answers. I do believe in bringing everyone together and, hopefully, in this manner, we can accomplish more. After all, that is what “TEAM” is all about-Together, Everybody, Accomplishes More! I invite you to review my resume of NADE experience. You will see that I have served as a member of THADE’s Board of Directors continuously since 1988, that I have served as Chairperson of the Membership and Resolutions Committee for the Southeast Region and served on many other chapter and regional committees, that I have served on NADE’s Constitution & ByLaws Committee, NADE’s Legislative Committee, NADE’s Publications Committee, and NADE’s Certification Committee. You will see that I have served as the editor and publisher of THADE’s chapter newsletter since 1990 and that I have attended nearly every regional and national NADE Training conference since 1986. I have been honored by NADE with its Charles O. Blaylock Award (for contributing to the organizational advancement of NADE over at least three years) in 1994. THADE’s newsletter has been recognized as one of the best during each year that I have served as its editor and publisher. I do not cite this record of experience or these honors as a vain attempt to boast of my accomplishments. Few, if any, of these accomplishments were achieved individually. However, this record and these honors do reflect my level of commitment to NADE and its goals and to what I believe our national association can be in the future. NADE has a very proud history and every NADE member should feel a debt of gratitude to those who have led our organization in the past. I respectfully ask for your support and I pledge to you that I will do my very best to continue this rich tradition of effective leadership. This is the motto of my campaign, “Leadership-Commitment-Service, For NADE-For You.” And I stand behind these words. Thank you.
