Dear Representative McCrery,
On behalf of the National Association of Disability Examiners (NADE) we want to thank you for your initiative in addressing problems in the SSI childhood disability program. Legislation to correct these problems is badly needed.
We strongly support the elimination of the IFA and believe the most logical and equitable approach is one which would grant cash benefits only to those children whose impairments meet or equal the medical listings. We also believe that any legislation proposed should include a family cap on such benefits.
Again, thank you for your efforts in this area. Please feel free to call on us if we can be of any assistance in getting this much needed legislation enacted.
Sincerely,
Larry DeVantier NADE President
Martha Marshall NADE Legislative Committee Chair
