Membership — Now’s The Time
by Susan R. LaMorte, Membership Director

THE ANNUAL RENEWAL DATE IS closely approaching and NOW is the time for us to begin planning our recruitment and retension activities.

I am happy to report as of March 1, 1999 our membership is up and we have 1956 members. An increase of 207 members of which 141 of these members are brand new members.

We all need to continue to work together in meeting our goal of each member recruiting ONE NEW MEMBER, as well as retaining and keeping the members we have active.

To assist the chapters in their recruitment efforts, membership recruitment/retension packages were distributed earlier this year. The package included recruitment flyers, sample letters, activity ideas and an open letter from our President, Jeff Price along with NADE’s accomplishments. NADE membership videos are also available. The number of membership grants hs been increased to fifteen (15) and there are still a few grants available. To obtain any of the membership recruitment material or a membership grant, just contact me at (973) 648-7874 or any one of the Regional Membership Committee members listed below.

Recruiting new members NOW, will enable these new members to participate in the upcoming Regional Training Conferences, as well as keeping them fully informed of the major issues facing our profession today. Attending training conferences and other activities gives us all a chance to energize and approach our workloads with renewed energy as well as networking with professional colleagues locally, regionally and natioally.

NADE will again sponsor a membership contest. There will be three categories: small (25 or less), medium (26-75) and large (76 or more). Cash prizes and certificates will be awarded at the National Training Conference this fall in Denver, Colorado. More information on the contest will be distributed to the chapters shortly.

NADE’s strength is our MEMBERS and their involvement. Our presence will be stronger, our voice louder and our effectiveness enhanced with increased active membership. NOW’s the time to recruite new members. Let’s do it today!
