COMMITTEE ON WAYS AND MEANS

Subcommittee On Human Resources
February 16, 1999
Mr. Jeffrey H. Price, President
Ms. Martha Marshall, Legislative Committee
National Association of Disability Examiners
2704 Frank Street
Lansing, MI 48911
Dear Mr. Price and Ms. Marshall:
Mrs. Johnson has asked that I respond to all the comments we have received on our SSI reform bill. As you know, the bill has now been marked up by the Subcommittee on Human Resources and will be brought to full Committee within the next month or so.
Within the next few weeks, Republican and Democratic Subcommittee staffers will meet with officials of the Social Security Administration, SSA’s Inspector General, and the General Accounting Office to discuss changes in the bill we will bring to full Committee. At that time, I will share a copy of your letter with everyone and bring your concern with the review of consultative examiners to everyone’s attention. We will then decide as a group whether to recommend changes to the Members.
Thanks so much for your assistance. If you have any further comments, please let me know.
Cordially,
Ron Haskins
Staff Director
