Terri Spurgeon Announces as a Candidate for President-elect

I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE this opportunity to announce my candidacy for President-elect of NADE. My decision to run reflects a natural progression of my involvement in our national organization and also reflects my commitment to NADE and its mission. I have a great deal of pride in what NADE has accomplished over the years and I look forward to the opportunity to continue those efforts begun by those who have led our Association in the past to prepare NADE for the 21st century. If elected, I will bring the experience that comes from 23 years of service in the DDS and 10 years of service to NADE. I began my career in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana DDS in 1975. Initially, I was a support staff worker, advancing from serving as a member of the support staff in a line unit to the Automated Records Section, then to QA Technical Reviewer and finally as a Support Staff Supervisor. In 1983, I became an initial claims examiner and subsequently advanced to CDR examiner, Assistant Supervisor and currently Professional Relations Officer. My experience at nearly all levels of DDS operations will help me serve as a fair representative for all NADE members. I joined NADE in 1988 and have been an active member since that time. I have been invited to represent our organization as a member of various SSA workgroups, including the ongoing SSA DI Forms Workgroup. I have served on the national level of our Association as a member of several of NADE’s standing committees and as a member of various Ad Hoc committees of our Association. I served as Chairperson of NADE’s Nominations Committee in 1996-97 and currently serve as your national Membership Committee Chairperson. I have served as co-coordinator for national, regional and local training conferences sponsored by NADE, and have served in nearly all capacities on the local level, including serving as President of BRADE on two occasions. I have attended nearly all regional and national training conferences sponsored by NADE since I joined in 1988 and have attended nearly all meetings of NADE’s Board of Directors, including NADE’s Mid-year Board meetings, since becoming a NADE member. I would welcome the opportunity to serve as President-elect, and subsequently as President of NADE. I am willing to commit my time and energy to continue the tradition of dedicated and capable leadership that has been so characteristic of those who have led our association since its founding. To do this, I need your support. Thank you.

- Terri Spurgeon
