Alabama Chapter Reviews 1999 Activities
by Pearline Talley, Alabama DDS
THE ALABAMA ASSOCIATION OF DISABILITY
EXAMINERS (AADE) has had a busy and productive year:
The chapter made membership packets and distributed them to all non-members in the DDS. As a result we recruited three new members.
The Year In Review
We started our fund-raisers with a breakfast in February.
We continued in April with a chicken finger fund-raiser.
In May we had eight delegates to attend the Southeast Regional Conference in Jackson, Mississippi. Also, we welcomed two additional members to our chapter. June, the Alabama Chapter hosted a reception for all DDS employees in honor of National Disability Professionals week. AADE threw a lake party for its members; hot dogs and hamburgers were served.
New officers were installed with the passing of the gavel to the incoming President at our August quarterly luncheon.
September, we had a hot dog luncheon fund-raiser.
On October 1st, the Alabama DDS went on line as one of the 10 prototype States in the country.
Four delegates were approved to attend the NADE National Conference in Denver, Colorado. To end the year, AADE had its 2nd annual Silent Auction to raise money to help the family of one of our examiners who died recently in an automobile accident. This was held December 8-10, 1999. AADE hosted a donut and juice break on the morning of the 8th. This was our way of saying thank you to the agency and gave employees a chance to preview the items we had available for bids in the auction. Needless to say the silent auction was a phenomenal success.
We held a Christmas party for AADE members on December 10th at a local establishment. Those that attended had a good time.
We had our annual Christmas luncheon on December 14th with an exchange of gifts among members.
