Highlights of NADE Delegate Assembly
September 24-25, 1998

NADE PRESIDENT DEBI GARDINER PRESIDED
over the 35th meeting of the NADE Delegate Assembly in Rapid City, South
Dakota. Reports were presented by the National Officers, Regional Directors
and Committee Chairs.
The Delegate Assembly elected the following Officers
for 1998-99:
President-Elect
Terri Spurgeon (Louisiana)
Secretary
Shari Bratt (Nebraska)
Treasurer
Lyle Larson (South Dakota)
The Delegate Assembly recognized the
earlier election by the Council of Chapter Presidents of Dean Crawford
(Texas) as its President and representative on the NADE Board.
In addition, the Delegate Assembly
took the following actions:
- discussed and approved a resolution
from the Northeast Region by roll call vote that NADE members support current
rules, regulations, court decisions and laws regarding the weight to be
given to treating source and consultative examiner opinion.
- discussed the Professional Accreditation
Ad Hoc Committee report that looked at the certification and continuing
education issues in an attempt to provide criteria for national accreditation
of NADE members. Further discussion and Board recommendations have been
deferred to the Mid-Year Board Meeting in March.
- discussed legislative and program
issues anticipated for 1998-99.
- discussed plans for the 1999 National
Training Conference scheduled for October 9-16, 1999 at the Denver Hyatt
Regency (1-800-233-1234). Room rates are $120 per night, single/double.
- discussed plans for the 2000 National
Training Conference scheduled for September 16-24, 2000 in San Juan, Puerto
Rico at the El San Juan Hotel and Resort. Room rates are $110 per night,
single/double.
- discussed plans for the 2001 National
Training Conference scheduled for October 29-November 1, 2001 in Austin,
Texas at the Hyatt Regency, Town Lake. Room rates are $132 per night, single/double.
- extended its appreciation to the South
Dakota Chapter for hosting an outstanding 1998 Training Conference.
- extended its appreciation and a standing
ovation to NADE President Debi Gardiner for her outstanding leadership
during this past year.
- welcomed Jeff Price as the 36th President
of NADE.
