MASH was founded in 1988 in Fort Worth. CEO James Hopps, the former head of the regional hospital and healthcare practice in the Dallas office of the national law firm of Fulbright and Jaworski, saw an unmet need in the healthcare community. Hospitals needed knowledgeable professionals to advocate and assist self-pay patients through the maze of public benefit programs. As a result, MASH was created to assist patients with applications, interviews, appointments, hearings, and all the necessary steps to obtain certification for medical coverage.

MASH currently provides advocacy services for over 50 hospitals in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Arkansas - ranging from large county hospitals to small rural facilities.
