Council of Chapter Presidents Meet in Puerto Rico
by Chuck Schimmels, Oklahoma DDS
The C.C.P. met on September 20th at the NADE 2000
conference. The meeting was kicked off by the NADE Constitution and Bylaws
Committee Chair Larry DeVantier’s presentation on Robert's Rules of Order.
He informed everyone that the book was available in paperback and was only
meant to provide a framework in which to hold your local chapter business
meeting. It sets the rules for which we operate; that the minority has
the right to be heard, but the majority rules. Robert's Rules of Order
will help you handle problems more smoothly and quickly by following its
framework. Larry made it clear that you need to be familiar with the rules,
but as the presiding officer over your local meeting your main job was
to handle business in an orderly fashion and not get hung up on rules.
The C.C.P. chairperson Dean Crawford informed the group that he had completed
all his duties set forth by the board. He had three main goals this past
year, the Q&A sheet to first time conference attendees, conference
bid sheets and getting the Chapter Services Handbook onto computer disk.
All of which Dean reported caused little or no stress at all in his life.

The regular business meeting discussed again the need for a vice chair position. That was discussed and the group determined that the position was not needed at this time. Also discussed in the old business was the need for each chapter to have its own tax I.D. number, that we cannot use the NADE number for umbrella coverage for all chapters. In the new business we discussed the issues of DCM, Prototype, and the Long Range Plan with past NADE past-president Jeff Price providing an update and the current stance of the organization.
Before the election was held, Paula Christofoletti from the New Hampshire chapter reported that her chapter had created an award in the name of Dean Crawford for hard work on behalf of the organization on the local level. They presented that award to four individuals this year, great work for the youngest of NADE chapters. The meeting finished with the re-election of Dean as Council of Chapter Presidents chairperson for one last year.
