Letters to the Editor

Dear NADE Membership, One of the topics on the agenda at the recent MidYear Board meeting was articles/opinion papers submitted by the membership for publication in the Advocate. The Board held a lengthy discussion on what constituted an article versus an opinion/position paper. Also discussed was the Advocate reading audience and how our publication is perceived impacts on our sphere of influence. We discussed the rising costs of publication and noted that some articles have not been run in past issues because of their length, which always relates to expense per page. Although fiscal conservatism is a major concern, the Board also wanted to be open to comments from the membership and to offer a vehicle for those opinions to be voiced.

The resolution was to start a Letters to the Editor page. Letters should be limited to 250 words or less. Although we do not anticipate receiving anything but responsible and professional commentaries from our membership, all letters submitted must be signed by the writer and include a phone number or email address (not to be published), in case the Advocate editor needs to obtain any clarifications.

Donna Hilton
Publications Director/Advocate Editor

P.S. The body of this letter is 197 words, even counting the articles (“a, an and the”).
