Candidate Profiles
Council of Chapter Presidents’ Chairperson
Dean Crawford

I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE this opportunity to announce my candidacy for re-election as NADE’s Council of Chapter Presidents’ Chairperson for 1999-2000. It has been my honor and privilege to serve NADE members in this position since being elected at the NADE conference in South Dakota. At that time I pledged increased communication between the NADE Board and NADE chapters. To accomplish this, I have sent bi-monthly mailings with information from several NADE committees, the NADE Board, and the NADE President. With these mailings, I have provided NADE members with up to date information about SSA’s policies and regulations, legislative issues, and NADE business. I have also solicited input from all chapters on several issues. This has provided NADE members with a chance for their voice to be heard.

Just recently it has been proven that those voices are actually acknowledged and, in some cases, acted upon. NADE received correspondence from Congress in response to input NADE provided concerning legislation regarding fraud and the policing of consultative examination providers. Due to our voiced concerns, the members of Congress removed this section from the legislation. SSA Commissioner, Ken Apfel also recently released his decisions regarding redesign and, due partly to NADE’s input, these decisions will not be implemented nationally until they have been proven to be successful. NADE does have a strong voice with Congress and SSA, and it is only through frequent and timely communication with the chapters that members’ ideas and concerns can be conveyed to these entities. I have worked diligently to fulfill all charges given to me by the NADE President and the NADE Board. To this date, charges that can be accomplished, have been. I fully expect all to be completed by the time NADE’s annual conference is held this year in Denver. Through increased communication, NADE is able to express the views of its membership to SSA and Congress. I will strive to keep the lines of communication open and flowing freely between the NADE Board and NADE members so your opinions can be expressed. It is because of the dedication and commitment of NADE members that NADE’s voice has become so strong. I promise to serve NADE as CCP Chair with that same dedication and commitment. In order to accomplish this goal, I need and would appreciate your support.
