President's Message

THERE IS NO BETTER WAY for us to rejuvenate our enthusiasm than by attending a NADE Training Conference. Since I have had the opportunity to attend so many, I think I may be splitting at the seams! Hats off to all that worked so hard to make all of the regional conferences so very exciting and informative. The sessions provided a great deal information pertinent to our work life. The after-hours networking was, and is essential to our professional life as well – not to mention a great way to relax and have some fun. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to attend the various conferences, meet the new folks and spend some time with old friends, as well as visit new to me parts of our country, and of course, sample the food! (Thanks again, TADE, for the hot tamales!)

A special THANKS again go out to the DDS Directors for allowing our membership to host the various NADE functions and for recognizing the importance of our involvement in this essential association.

Please allow me the opportunity to thank the Administration of the Louisiana DDS, specifically Kay Hoffpauir, Administrator, and Peggy Jenkins, BR Area Office Manager. As NADE President, it is necessary for an individual to spend a great deal of time traveling and in general “away from your desk.” It is Kay, Peggy, and their staffs that have allowed me the time necessary to perform the duties of President and keep my professional responsibilities at the office going in my absence. Thank you Bosses and I promise, it’s almost over!

National Disability Professionals Week is right around the corner, as is our annual membership renewal. I know that NADE Membership Chair Debi Gardiner and NADE NDPW Chair Melissa Robertz have been putting their heads together and are ready to offer suggestions on ways we can show our appreciation to all those involved in the Disability Programs. I hope that you will take advantage of this special week and take time out to say “thanks” to all making contributions to our profession.

All of the NADE leadership has been working hard to represent you and be of service to you and your local chapter. When I speak of NADE leadership, I’m speaking of each NADE member. The voice of the NADE membership leads this association and directs its focus. Your voice is needed to continue to promote issues that will positively impact this program and the American public. You are the Disability experts. All involved in the adjudication of the Disability Programs are depending on YOU.
