Dear Martha:
Thanks for your nice letter of March 23. I always enjoy meeting with professionals who are deeply involved in implementing our programs. For some reason, I have had especially impressive experiences in meeting people from NADE. When I came to the Subcommittee, I could barely spell “SSI”. As I have learned more about the program year after year, I have found that the professionals who play a direct role in the determination process are the least stilted, most straightforward, and most knowledgeable SSI people I meet. It is especially reassuring to find that almost every disability determiner I meet is committed to admitting qualified children and adults to SSI – and only qualified children and adults. The public owes all of you a great debt.
Thanks again for meeting with me.
Cordially,
Ron Haskins Staff Director
