The Top Five Reasons to Run for a NADE Office
THE TOP FIVE REASONS TO RUN for office in the National Association of Disability Examiners are:

5. You love to attend meetings; sometimes You even stay awake.

4. Your immediate supervisor would love to have you out of the office more.

3. You had your “colors” done and were urged to wear green as much as possible to match your complexion.

2. You joined NADE to see the country, but you’ve missed a few States.

And the number one reason to run is:

You are bored with your current life and want to spend time with other NADE Board members!

On a more serious note, NADE will elect officers at the National Training Conference in Rapid City, South Dakota, in September. NADE members have ample opportunity to assume leadership positions in their local and regional Chapters. During the annual meeting of the Council of Chapter presidents, formal leadership training is provided. The ultimate use of all this preparation is serving on the Executive Board of NADE. If this is a point in your life when you are free to serve, seriously consider running for a national office. Participation on the national level is challenging, but extremely rewarding. NADE needs:

A President-Elect to observe and assist the president for a year and then to become President, the prime leadership role.

A Treasurer to handle the organizations finances.

A Secretary to record minutes of the meetings.

For a complete description of the duties of the various offices, see NADE’s bylaws.

The ADVOCATE will include announcements and pictures of the candidates. Should you choose to run, please submit your article and picture to Donna Hilton, editor of the Advocate, by June 15, 1998, in order to be included in the July Advocate. Also, please notify a member of the Nominations Committee. Anne Graham, Chair 1318 Glenmont Rd. Baltimore, MD 21239 (410) 965-9100
