The Pacific Region Takes Another Step Toward Professionalism
by Ken Forbes, Oregon DDS
AT THE 1999 PACIFIC REGIONAL Conference
delegate assembly, we voted to allot money from the budget to plan and
carry out a “Leadership Development Program.” How did this come about you
ask? People taking on leadership roles have had negative experiences, because
there has been no time devoted to their training. This is not an issue
reserved to just the local chapter, state or regional level. It affects
many who run for and are elected to national offices. Therefore, a committee
was formed and the planning started to hold the first Leadership Development
Program. The goal was to keep cost to a minimum and make it possible for
our future leaders to attend. We decided to add it to the end of the Pacific
Regional Conference being held May 4th and 5th, 2000 in Seattle Washington.
The money from our treasury will pay for the use of the conference room
and there will be NO additional cost to those who attend. We hope the attendees
will stay one more night and join us for some fun, learning, growth and
new friendships, to make this organization even stronger for our future.
After the close of the Regional Conference on May 5, 2000, the Leadership
Program will begin.
